Teta’s kitchen is full of warm maamoul for Eid.
Amira has never seen so many.
“How many are for me?”
Then she picks up the tray and starts walking.
A plate goes to family. Then to friends. Then along the street to the neighbours.
And every time someone takes one, Amira watches for the moment when there will no longer be enough.
Instead, something else keeps growing.
Smiles. Friendship. Eid greetings. A warm feeling in her own chest that was not there when the tray was full.

Meet the author
Nada Zameer
Nada Zameer is the author of The Abundance Collection and the co-founder and creative director of Rutab Books London, the family press she runs with her husband. A law graduate from London, she gathers her stories on long walks through St James's Park and Hyde Park, past Buckingham Palace and along the Thames towards Hampton Court, photographing the small details that end up on the page. The robin in her books was first spotted on one of those walks.
Her husband hears every story first. His favourite is Who Makes It Grow?, for its lesson in doing your part and trusting Allah with the rest.
