Rutab Books is a small, family-run publishing house in London, making books for Muslim children and the grown-ups who read to them. These terms are the understanding between us whenever you visit rutabbooks.com or buy one of our books. We have written them as plainly as the law allows, so that they can be read over a cup of tea rather than with a solicitor at your elbow. Nothing in them takes away the rights you have as a consumer.

1. Who we are

Rutab Books London is an independent, family-run children's publisher based in London, England, and we run rutabbooks.com ourselves. You can write to us at any time at hello@rutabbooks.com, and one of us will reply.

2. What we publish

We make illustrated books for young children, inspired by the Qur'an. They come in two forms:

• Printed books: hardback picture books, board books, and collected sets such as The Abundance Collection, posted to your door.
• Digital editions: printable PDF files, sent to you by email as download links.

We take great care to show every book as it truly is, though colours on a screen can differ a little from ink on paper, and the pictures on our website are a guide.

3. Prices and payment

Our prices are set in pounds sterling (£) and include any UK VAT that applies. If you choose to browse in another currency, the price is converted for your convenience, and your bank may apply its own exchange rate. Any delivery charge is shown at checkout before you pay. We take payment in full when you order, including for books that are still at the printer.

If we ever make an obvious mistake with a price, we will contact you before your order is sent, and you may either go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

4. When your order is accepted

Once you have ordered, we will send you an email confirming it. The contract between us begins when we send that email. If for any reason we cannot accept your order, for instance because a book is no longer available or a price or description was wrong, we will tell you, and you will not be charged, or we will refund you in full.

5. Preorders and First Editions

Some of our books, including The Abundance Collection First Edition, are offered before they are printed. Each book's page shows the month we expect to send it. Payment is taken in full when you order, which reserves your copy in the print run.

• You may cancel a preorder at any time before it is sent, and we will refund you in full.
• If printing runs late, we will write to you with a new date, and you may choose to wait or to cancel for a full refund.
• If we are unable to send your books within a reasonable time, we will refund you in full.

6. Delivery

Where we send our books, what it costs and how long it takes are all set out in our Shipping Policy. Your books become your responsibility once they are delivered to the address you gave us, and they become yours once we have received payment in full.

7. If you change your mind

Printed books. You may cancel your order, for any reason, within 14 days of the day your books arrive. How to do so, and how we refund you, is explained in our Returns and Refunds policy.

Digital editions. Because digital editions are sent to you straight away, by ordering one you ask us to supply it immediately, and you agree that your right to cancel ends once you begin downloading the files. Until then, you may cancel for a full refund.

8. If something is not right

The law requires every book we sell to be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for its purpose, and we hold ourselves to that gladly. If a book arrives damaged or faulty, or is not the book you ordered, tell us and we will put it right with a replacement or a refund, and we will cover the postage. If a digital file will not download or open, we will send it again or refund you. Our Returns and Refunds policy explains this in full.

9. Using our digital editions

When you buy a digital edition, you receive a personal licence to enjoy it within your own household. You are welcome to read it on your own devices and to print pages at home for your family. We ask that you do not share, resell, forward or post the files or illustrations anywhere else. Every copy bought honestly helps a small family press to keep making books. Schools, nurseries and libraries who would like to use our books are warmly invited to write to us for permission.

10. Our stories and pictures

All stories, text and illustrations on this website and in our books belong to Rutab Books London and are protected by copyright. Buying a book gives you the book itself, or in the case of a digital edition the licence above, but not the right to copy or reproduce its words or pictures. You are very welcome to quote a line or two when reviewing or recommending us.

11. Using this website

We look after rutabbooks.com carefully, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may change what is on it, and add or withdraw books, at any time. Please do not misuse the website, for instance by trying to gain access to parts of it that are not meant for you, or by introducing anything harmful. Where we link to other websites, we do so for your interest and are not responsible for what they contain.

12. Our responsibility to you

If we fail to keep to these terms, we are responsible for any loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our failure or of our not taking reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss or damage that could not have been foreseen. Our books are sold for home and private use, and we are not responsible for any business loss.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

13. Events beyond our control

If something beyond our reasonable control, such as a disruption at the printer or in the post, delays or prevents us from sending your books, we will tell you as soon as we can and do what we reasonably can to keep the delay short. If the delay is a long one, you may cancel and be refunded in full for anything not yet delivered.

14. Your personal information

We use your personal information only as described in our Privacy Policy.

15. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You may bring any claim in the courts of England and Wales, and if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live. If you live outside the United Kingdom, you keep the protection of any laws of your own country that cannot be set aside. Should anything go wrong, we would always rather hear from you first, and we will do our best to make it right.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown here when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
