the first thing we have made that is not a book
Some gifts carry more
than what is inside them.
Min Ardina · مِن أرضنا · From Our Land
Eid gift wrap drawn with ripe figs and olive branches, for whatever you are giving. A quiet tribute to the orchards of Palestine, and to the food, the stories and the memories carried through Muslim homes here in Britain.

Part I
The paper
made for every gift, not only ours
The pattern
Figs cut open, whole figs, olives still on the branch. Watercolour, drawn by the same hand as the books, at the size of a real fig.
The ground
Warm limestone ivory, printed on proper uncoated paper, so it creases softly and takes a ribbon without shining.
The sheets
Large flat sheets, printed in Britain and posted flat in a card sleeve. One sheet wraps most things, two will cover the whole Eid table.
the kind of paper
nobody wants to tear
Part II
Why figs,
why olives.
The fig and the olive are how our families talk about land, provision and continuity without saying any of those words.
Land
Fruit picked by hand. A whole orchard living in one leaf.
Provision
Full tables, food going round twice, the soft chaos of Eid morning.
Continuity
Teta's kitchen, and home coming with us, oceans and all.
Which is why it is drawn quietly. Familiar enough to belong on your table, restrained enough that the gift is still the gift.
For eidiyah pressed into small hands. For parcels posted to family far away. For the one you actually thought about, and for the small one you nearly forgot, which now looks like you planned it.
